Honey Do

Do what is fair...
Jeremiah 21:1-22:30

"This is what the Lord says: Do what is fair and right. Save the one who has been robbed from the power of his attacker. Don't mistreat or hurt the foreigners, orphans, or widows. Don't kill innocent people here." (Jeremiah 22:3)

Christianity isn't just about a rigid set of what not to do- things to avoid, but I believe it is much more about the great sense of responsibility motivated by Jesus' love that we strive to reflect in the world. Doing justice... What does this look like in real life? God gives us actual examples- protecting victims, welcoming foreigners and taking care of the marginalized. Lord, help me to act fairly and justly and do your will always.

Do live by God's rules...
Psalm 119:9-16

"I enjoy living by your rules as people enjoy great riches. I think about your orders and study your ways." (Psalm 119:14-15)

The Lord's commands are beautiful and perfect and just. Unlike the laws set up by the world and society, God's rules are there to help guide us lovingly into another way of living. It is so sweet to reflect on Your word and your ways, Lord. Help me to follow in them always.

Do live in peace...
1 Thessalonians 5:1-28

"Live in peace with each other.... Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens....Keep what is good, and stay away from everything that is evil." (1 Thessalonians 5:13-22)

Peace is in someways a very loaded term. Connotations abound with regard to peace (not war, silence, and quiet, maker). Here, peace seems to be to be used in such a way as harmony. It's important to remember that the church, even in its beginnings, needed to hear the message for the need of harmony and peace. Joy, prayer, thanksgiving, and good... Lord, lead me as I try to do all of this in Your name.
